PermitAlerts
15 cities · every weekday morning

Know about the job before your competitors do

Every weekday morning we email you the building permits your city issued since yesterday — filtered to your trade and ZIP codes — with the address, scope of work, valuation and contractor. Reach the property while the project is still being planned.

Every weekday morning you get
  • New permits for your city and trade since your last email
  • Address, ZIP, scope of work and valuation
  • The contractor's company name where the city lists one
  • A CSV for your CRM or mail-merge, plus a link to each city record
  • No homeowner names — public permit records only

15 cities, about 6,080 new permits a week

New permits per week by trade, averaged over the last 14 days of each city's open-data feed. A remodel filed as separate building, electrical and mechanical permits at one address counts once.

“0” means the city's feed doesn't separate that trade or it was quiet during the window (Seattle, Nashville and Raleigh publish building permits only, so trade permits like HVAC and electrical rarely appear there). Chicago and Mesa don't publish ZIP codes, so ZIP filtering isn't available there.

Questions

Where does the data come from?

From each city's (or county's) official open-data portal — the same public permit records the city publishes. The source for every city is listed below, and each row in your CSV links back to it.

How quickly do new permits show up?

It depends on the city. Most post a permit the same day or the next morning; New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Raleigh usually run one to two days behind. Some cities backdate a permit when they post it late — we track when each permit first appeared, so you still get it in your next email.

Do you include homeowner names or phone numbers?

No. We never include owner or applicant names, or owner phone numbers or emails, even where a city publishes them. You get the permit address (a public record), the work description and the contractor's company name where the city lists one.

Can I contact the property owners?

Yes, but it's your responsibility to follow the law. Follow the TCPA and the National Do Not Call Registry for calls and texts, CAN-SPAM for email, and your city's door-to-door solicitation and contractor-advertising rules (some require a solicitor permit). Direct mail to the permit address is the safest channel. See the Data Use Policy.

How are trades decided?

From the city's permit type and the work description (for example a Re-Roof permit, a Mechanical permit, or a description that mentions solar modules). A permit can match several trades. “All permits” includes everything except noise like signs, scaffolding and sidewalk sheds.

What if there are no new permits?

We don't send an empty email. If a whole week passes with nothing matching your filter, you get a short note so you know your alert is still running.

Can I filter by ZIP code?

Yes — enter one or more ZIP codes at checkout (comma-separated). Chicago and Mesa don't publish ZIP codes with their permits, so there you get the whole city. Reply to any email to change your ZIP list.

Can I use the data for screening or credit decisions?

No. We aren't a consumer reporting agency, and the data can't be used for credit, insurance, employment or housing decisions.

How do I cancel?

Anytime, from the customer portal link in every email. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the month you've paid for.
